Grant's Golden Brand Pomade "style is everything"
Jeff Decker the artist, historian and detailed traditionalist is now part of our "Heroes Family." Jeff the artist is one of the world's leading bronze casting sculptors whose subject matter focuses on early 1900's vehicles and their masters. This loss wax homeboy is the "one of one" who has been commissioned by Harley Davidson to capture the era correct Glory Days of yesteryear. Jeff the historian & traditionalist painstakingly pays homage to the way things were meant to be, no short cuts and sell outs ~ O.G. to the bone. From his vintage rides, selvedge levis and now to his hairdooo - Jeff's style is on POINT.
Welcome to the Family Mr. Decker, -Grant's Golden Brand Pomade the premiere water based pomade made in the good old USA
Today we are catching up with Rob Fortier/Rod & Custom's 1939 Chevy Truck progress. Time to focus on the interior, the dash board in particular. One of three things to always inspect in a restored classic's interior are the: the floor boards (good shape, no rot), decent upholstery, and a clean dash (gauges, correct parts and nice paint). Lets face it you stare at the dash every second you are in the drivers seat so why not make it top notch. Here we see Rob's dash freshly painted with restored gauges and switches updated to a 12 volt system. Clean and Classy - no "corny digital billet clusters" here. Roll O.G. Americana -Cheers, Grant's Golden Brand Pomade the premiere water based pomade made in the good old USA
Last week we lost one of the greats, Larry Watson. An original painter and pinstriper who made his mark in the hearts of true traditionalists. A prime example of a self taught and self made American legend. He is up in heaven now working with Von Dutch on some futuristic paint schemes and color ways. metal flake fades & pearl panels for days.
like our company motto states: "Style is Everything" Mr. Watson had style to burn.
Part 6 in our series on Rob Fortier's/Rod & Customs 1939 Chevrolet Truck progress. Here we see the highly sought after finished 15" Artillery Rims (o.g rims, no re-pros here) freshly straightened, balanced and painted mated up to the new front end. Rob searched high and low for a clean set of these rims. They are getting harder to find, a lot of the "survivors" are dented, pitted or the valve stem holes are bad. When you do find a decent set they are fetching top dollar. 10 years ago you could find them at every swap meet for a decent price. With that said I think Rob will need to take out a separate insurance policy for these rims. More to come, stay tuned in. Looking Clean w/the fresh Silvertown white walls.
“Rhythm is something you either have or don't have, but when you have it, you have it all over.”
“I knew by heart all the dialogue of James Dean's films; I could watch "Rebel Without a Cause" a hundred times over.”
“Don't criticize what you don't understand, son. You never walked in that man's shoes.” (my favorite quote from the king)
All quotes from: -Elvis
"Jimmy was the most talented and original actor I ever saw work. He was also a guerrilla artist who attacked all restrictions on his sensibility. Once he pulled a switchblade and threatened to murder his director. I imitated his style in art and in life. It got me in a lot of trouble." -Dennis Lee Hopper
Part 5 in Rob Fortier's Editor of Rod & Customs 1939 Chevy Truck. Here we see the vintage Bow Tie hauler with the front end in place. The engine is ready to roll along with the front suspension looking good. Another addition that Rob has added here is the a very rare Pecket "Comet" sun visor. This stage is about mocking up the loose ends to make sure everything functions & fits properly. The last thing you want to do is go to paint and you later have to take it down because you didn't measure properly. Rule #1: measure 3 times, before committing.
Big Audio Dynamite was the second coming of Mick Jones after the Clash disbanded. Keeping up with the times Mick and his collabs produced a current sound featuring: layered sampling, heavy raga and electro. A prime example of their works is 1991's RUSH. Check the singles cover art, drafted by the one & only Shawn Stussy. Only one man can write fonts like that. Mick was part of the International Tribe-Stu Crew.Big Audio was what many consider would have been the next sound of the Clash, that would have been a shame. But they are still worth a hearty listen ..... for the change of atmosphere.
